Hi, my name is Mike Linn, owner of T-Shirt Hound and I have been in the decorated apparel business for over 30 years. The first half of my career I spent working for other apparel companies, and the second half - I have owned my own screen printing & design business.

My degree is in graphic design and when employed, my primary responsibilities were managing art departments and handling the marketing functions. At my jobs, I learned how to put together apparel programs for corporate accounts and applied what I learned to school spirit wear programs after I started my own business. So through the years of printing spirit wear programs I began to notice some patterns.
Being a designer myself, I had always believed that if I created good designs and provided quality apparel that people would see the difference and business would take care of itself. But what I noticed was School A may have a very successful sale and School B have very low sale results. Screen Print Design

Your screen print design is one of the most important factors that directly impacts the amount of sales. Some of the large online printers leave the designing responsibility completely up to you. They provide  you with a bunch of random digital clipart and expect you to assemble your own artwork - even if you are not a designer. They get you to create the artwork so all they have to do is print it.

That's why we don't offer any online tools for designing your own screen print. We believe that to achieve the best results, it is better to offer some great looking design templates that can be edited to your custom specifications by a professional screen print designer. We will make as many changes to your design as necessary until you are completely satisfied with the results.

Apparel Styling

It can be very challenging to navigate through the thousands of apparel options that are out there, so we have simplified the process by narrowing the selection down to the top sellers for the best value. If a style is not available in youth sizing, or does not have a good color selection for schools, we have decided not to offer it in our core line-up. 

However, if there is a certain style that you are looking for, and we do not have it in our core line-up, we have a supplement digital apparel catalog with thousands of apparel styles to choose from.

Sales and Marketing

Even if you do a great job creating a killer screen print design and choosing the best apparel styles -  you still might not have a successful sale, if you do not effectively get the word out. Unfortunately, the days of just simply sending home an order form with the students and having a successful sale are over.

When selling a Spirit Wear Program for your school, you have a very short window to sell in. If you extend the selling time-frame out too long, people will lose interest and they will not have a "sense of urgency" to act. You must also balance that short amount of time to promote, with the correct messaging and sequence to maximize your sales. Here's Some FAQ's
How much does it cost to create my screen print design?
Only $7 and we will make as many edits to your design until you are completely happy with it. We will email your digital sketch within 48 hours. If edits are requested, they will be completed within 24 hours. Keep in mind, a real-live designer will be creating your artwork, not an automated computer program.
Can I submit my own artwork?
Yes, you can email your design to: artwork@tshirthound.com and we will send you a printing quote if it will cost more than our published price.
What if we don't have a mascot?
We will create one for you - free of charge! If we don't have something you like in our archives, we will design one for you.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, we require a refundable $45 deposit, to build out all of your sales and marketing assets. BUT, if your school's Spirit Wear program sells 150 or more apparel items, you will be refunded your deposit in full! However, a deposit is not required to start working on your custom screen print design.
How long does my program run?
We recommend approximately 2 weeks. People who placed their orders early in the sale will get impatient waiting for their merchandise if it takes too long.
Will you print our sales flyer/order forms and posters?
No, but we will do all of the creative work and will provide you with print-ready pdf documents that you can print yourself or take to a local quick copy store.
